The first teaser for the Akshay Kumar starrer Welcome to the Jungle is out, and it promises a zany ride.
The teaser starts with a funny disclaimer that no animals were harmed during the making of the film, except for the “idiot actors.” It then cuts to a chaotic film shoot inside a jungle where cast members walk in wearing army outfits and carrying guns, completely unaware of the real danger lurking right behind them. The footage promises plenty of slapstick humor, and the chemistry between Akshay, Paresh, and Suniel Shetty easily reminds us of their classic collaborations.
Moreover, there are some self-aware jokes at Akshay Kumar for doing too many movies just for money. Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal play a director duo named “Dev-Das,” while Shreyas Talpade plays a cameraman named “Nain-Sukh.”
On top of that, the teaser reveals that the movie’s first song will drop on May 18. The trailer is expected to follow in the first week of June. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has planned a massive, 20 day non-stop promotional campaign to build up the hype.
Trade experts have given the teaser a thumbs-up, calling it a total crowd-pleaser. If the trailer clicks with the audience, this could easily become the biggest opening film of Akshay’s career.
