Not every film is made for every viewer. With each release, someone is bound to feel offended or find faults. These differences in opinion often push people to make broad claims about the film industry as a whole.
When films discuss Muslims, some extremist Hindu groups quickly label Bollywood as Hindu phobic. If filmmakers show negative aspects of Hinduism, sections of the Hindu community accuse the industry of targeting their faith.
At the same time, when films portray uncomfortable truths about the Muslim community, Muslim extremists call Bollywood Islamophobic. These accusations keep changing based on perspective, while the industry remains stuck in the middle of these conflicts.
Amid all this noise, the reality appears simpler. Bollywood filmmakers are largely focused on making films that work at the box office. Commercial survival often takes priority over balanced storytelling or deeper intent.
Audiences have repeatedly noted how Bollywood follows trends that prove profitable. After the success of Baahubali, filmmakers rushed to copy the pan India model. The focus shifted quickly to scale and spectacle.
When Kabir Singh and Animal became hits, many films began pushing toxic masculine heroes. Beards cigarettes and extreme violence became common visual shortcuts.
Later, when Saiyaara found success, the industry changed direction again. Romantic comedies and similar themes started gaining attention as producers chased the next winning formula.
Many producers function as opportunists. They align themselves with public sentiment to protect profits. Creativity and meaningful cinema often take a backseat to staying relevant and delivering box office numbers.
If audiences demanded better writing and stronger filmmaking instead of endless outrage, the industry might respond. Until then, Bollywood will continue making mass driven films, because not all films are meant for everyone.
