A recent copyright strike on popular YouTube movie reviewer Filmi Indian has sparked heated debate across social media and the creator community. Fans and fellow creators are now questioning the ethics of using copyright strikes to silence critics.
Deeksha Sharma, the face of the channel, shared how her journey began. Despite clearing several competitive exams, she chose to follow her passion for cinema. What started as a casual late-night review soon turned into a channel with thousands of loyal viewers.
For over seven years, Deeksha has posted honest reviews every Friday, avoiding ads and PR collaborations to stay unbiased. But her work came under threat when an established producer issued repeated copyright strikes, putting her channel at risk of permanent deletion.
She explained that under YouTube policy, three strikes can lead to a channel’s removal. Deeksha also pointed out the hypocrisy where piracy sites get away with posting full films while reviewers face harsh action for fair criticism.
Other YouTubers have echoed similar experiences, claiming they received strikes not for copyright infringement but for negative reviews. Many see this as an attack on free speech and a worrying sign for creators across India.
Though Deeksha did not name the producer, speculation online points toward the makers of Baaghi 4 and Sajid Nadiadwala. Social media users argue that Bollywood should focus on making better films instead of silencing honest voices.
