Tony Vinciquerra, the CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, is concentrating on artificial intelligence (AI) to increase the productivity of the film industry. He claimed that the cost of producing films nowadays is the main issue.
According to Vinciquerra, talks between Hollywood employees and studios will decide how far AI can be used. What the IATSE and Teamsters may do with AI will be outlined in agreements reached during last year’s strikes and negotiations.
Vinciquerra also inquired about the likelihood of Sony acquiring Paramount, whether Apollo, a private equity group, was involved or not. He was unable to comment on ongoing negotiations, although he did make broad remarks regarding M&A that were interpretable.
In addition to its successful streaming approach, SPE is looking for strategic investments to help it sell more intellectual property, products, and libraries. The company will not operate additional businesses outside of its set strategy or venture into general-entertainment streaming services.
In the streaming conflicts, SPE has continued to take an arms-dealer stance by licencing content to Netflix in addition to theatrical releases. The corporation will refrain from investing in ventures that do not align with its present strategy and will not venture into unspecified commercial ventures.
