Hunger Games Thrives Amidst Box Office Monotony

The box office experienced the enchantment of Miyazaki, but the question arises: who stands out among the others?

“Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” swiftly replaced Beyoncé’s film after facing a massive disaster. The Hunger Games franchise continues to thrive, grossing $9.4M at the box office.

The Japanese venture of Godzilla, “Godzilla Minus One,” secured the third spot after its explosive opening, reaching a lifetime collection of $25.3M in the West, with a substantial $8.3M during the weekends.

“Trolls Band Together” claimed the fourth position, banking $6.2M over the weekend, bringing the family film’s total to $83.1M.

Beyoncé, however, faced a melancholic tune with a 77% drop at the box office, grossing just $5M and accumulating a lifetime collection of $28M. While not replicating Swift’s impact, Beyoncé’s attempt was revolutionary.

The box office also showcased some underrated gems, including “Poor Things,” which, in limited release, earned $644,000 from nine theaters, boasting a per-theater average of $72,000, leading the fall awards season.

The upcoming release of “Wonka,” starring Timothée Chalamet, is anticipated to give the box office a boost, but industry experts predict a more subdued holiday season compared to recent years.
