Following Elliott (Stella) on a journey of self-discovery during the summer before college, the film was described as a blend of a sweet teenage love story, a contemporary comedy, and a time-travel riff. Plaza is playing Elliott’s older self, encountering her during a transformative mushroom trip.

The deal made by Amazon MGM signifies one of the most significant acquisitions at Sundance. Other films like “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” and the road trip documentary “Will & Harper” with Will Ferrell did also garner attention in the festival’s dynamic market.

Amazon MGM do plan a theatrical release for “My Old Ass” in the U.S. and Canada, with international territories yet to be determined. Following the theatrical run, the film is set to stream globally on Amazon Prime Video adding another jewel to Amazon MGM’s diverse film portfolio.
