The glamor and craze for award shows seem to be reducing every year now. The broadcasters have been failing every year to make these long events entertaining and engaging but the results are not encouraging. This year’s Emmy Awards recorded the lowest ever viewership at the award function continuing the trend for the last 5 years.
The 75th Annual Emmy was hosted by Anthony Anderson and it received a total viewership of only 4.3 million. This is the lowest ever viewership at the award function. The numbers saw a 25 percent drop from the 2022 Emmy which had nearly 6 million viewers.
Not only the viewership went down but the ratings for the show also hit a record low as it received only 1.0 rating from the audience in the age range of 18-49. Even though this year’s Emmy tried to be one of the most inclusive and diverse ones in the last few years, it failed to create any hype for the audience.
The trend suggests that people are losing interest in watching 3 hour long award shows when they can catch all the action from the show afterwards on their phone. This is an issue that the broadcasters have no answer to so far.
