Hollywood’s latest product in the horror genre ‘Tarot’ has beaten all the box office expectations and earned 2.5 times of its budget in its second weekend only.
Made with a production budget of $8 million, it has earned over $20 million in around 10 days. The number may seem small to many but give the budget it’s an impressive feat, that too for a movie genre reserved for horror geeks.
The movie is based on the novel, Horrorscope, by Nicholas Adams which was published in 1992. The horror comedy did not fail to attract viewers so long after the book was published.
The plot follows a bunch of college students who get their hands on a mysterious set of tarot cards. The cards foretold their fate and they had to solve the mystery before it gets too late.
This year has already seen many good but underrated horror movies such as ‘Late Night With The Devil’ and ‘Abigail’.
Tarot stars Harriet Slater, Jacob Batalon, Adain Bradley, Humberly González, Wolfgang Novogratz and Larsen Thompson.
It hit the theatres on May 3 and had an opening weekend of $6.3 in North America, finishing fourth that weekend.
