2022 Recap: Names That Mattered The Most At National Level

2022 has been a mixed bag for Tollywood. Even then, the industry managed some big hits. Even in those hits, there are certain names that were heard at the national level hogging the limelight of the entire nation bringing laurels to the industry. Here’s a comprehensive report on the same.

Rajamouli – NTR – Ram Charan:

The obvious first choices for the list would be Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan.

Rajamouli, Ram Charan, Jr NTR’s RRR is a smashing success in the pan India belt. But what followed was even sweeter as the film became a raging success in the west following its Netflix debut. The film is now in contention for Golden Globe, and The Oscars. This is the kind of stuff an Indian filmmaker would only dream of, but Rajamouli, Tarak and Charan are experiencing it already.

RRR’s fame reached not just national levels but also international levels and any victories at the Golden Golbe and the Oscars will only be a new milestone in the fairytale-like run. Rajamouli is India’s biggest director now. As for Charan and Tarak, they have a huge platform to build on and the onus is on them to capitalize on it.

Abhishek Agarwal:

This Telugu producer has had a year for ages. First, he delivered a monstrous box office blockbuster with Kashmir Files. He followed it up with another blockbuster, Karthikeya 2.

Abhishek is the pick of Tollywood producers this year. He attained pan India fame with two blockbusters and there’s more to look forward to for him as he has lined up another project with Kashmir Files fame Vivek Agnihotri.

Adivi Sesh

Adivi Sesh had a brilliant 2022. He first delivered a big hit with Major which had pan Indian appeal and followed it with HIT 2. But the discussion now is about Major as this is the film that showcased Sesh to pan Indian audience.

Sesh’s brilliant portrayal of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, and also his spotless writing are the shining lights of Major. His name has been announced in pan Indian segment with Major and it is upon him to make the most of it with his upcoming films.

Nikhil:

The young hero has become a name across the country with the sensational hit of Karthikeya 2. The Country which is in Hindutva mood swayed to the tune of Krishnatatvam and Nikhil got propelled into the 100 Crore club with this film.

Prasanth Varma:

This young director has no release this year but has become a nationwide name for his authentic portrayal of the Hindu Mythology in Hanu-Man. The quality he managed with such a small budget while some big names across the country failed handling VFX. Hanuman is produced by Niranjan Reddy and Asrin Reddy.

Tollywood is well poised to have a sensational 2023 as well with prospective films like Pushpa 2, RC15, NTR30, Salaar, and others lining up for release. We could have more entries to the list of Tollywood personalities who have carved a name for themselves in the pan India belt.
