96 Telugu Remake – Bad Idea?

Trisha and Vijay Sethupathy’s Tamil romantic movie ’96’ proved to be one of those rare movies that come once in a while to enchant the audiences who have the taste to appreciate filmmaking as an art. Now, Dil Raju is one of those cine lovers who fell so madly in love with the movie that he wants to remake it in Telugu.

However, we opine that it’s a bad idea to remake the movie of this sorts in Telugu. Though several remakes were successful in Telugu, all of them can’t be remade here. Blockbusters elsewhere in another languages sometimes proved to be disasters here or ended up as average films and vice versa.

Take the example of the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Premam’ that was liked by the audiences across the industries but turned out to be just another average film when remade in Telugu with the same title. Dil Raju has certainly gone crazy after watching ’96’ and is mad to remake it in Telugu.

But, is it really easy to repeat the same success here in Tollywood? The Tamil movie is said to be pure romance sans melodramatic moments and the feelings of the lead pair are said to have been captured well. Will the same work here?
