Sanjay Dutt, who had been sentenced to five years of imprisonment under the Arms Act for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blast and had been asked to surrender himself by the third week of April had previously refuted all reports of applying for a pardon. However, it has recently come to notice that Dutt is expected to move to the Supreme Court by filing a review petition.
The petition that has been arranged by a legal team based in Delhi will most probably be filed in a day or two. Following the suspension of this plea, a curative petition can also be filed. Sanjay Dutt had been found guilty of arms possession by the Supreme Court who on March 21 upheld Dutt’s conviction under Arms Act and sentenced him to five years in jail of which he has already served 18 months.
