Many reasons are cited for Jaanu’s failure. The weak promotions before and after release are topping the list for fans. For others, a remake of a classic, having a smaller audience, to begin with, and seen by those in Telugu, as well, come to the mind instantly. However, still better was expected given the production and cast involved.
After a decent opening day, Jaanu did not pick up over the weekend in an expected way. It remained at low levels. The overall weekend collections are a little above 6.50 Cr worldwide. It is inadequate considering the distributor price tagged at 21 Cr.
The crash on Monday has dampened the spirits furthers. Jaanu seems destined to a disastrous fate at the box office. Will there be an upward trend in the coming days? Let’s wait and watch, although the chances are very slim.
C Prem Kumar, the director of the original helmed the Telugu remake. The technical crew too was repeated, including the music director and the cinematographer. All efforts were sincerely made to recreate the original. Unfortunately, it still didn’t work out as anticipated.
