Aadarsha Kutumbam song dispute
Venkatesh and Trivikram’s Aadarsha Kutumbam is facing an unexpected controversy amid its box-office run. The film received mixed talk and collected over Rs. 16 crores gross on its opening day. The numbers are below expectations considering the combination. While the makers are hoping for a weekend pickup, a copyright dispute has now created fresh trouble.
Producer Manchi Venkat, who is backing the horror-comedy thriller Parnashala under SLT Films, has raised objections over the alleged unauthorised use of a folk song from his film in Aadarsha Kutumbam.
The song, Jim Jim Tara, was written and sung by folk artist G. Lakshmi Devi. It gained popularity on YouTube and social media for its catchy rhythm.
According to Manchi Venkat, Aadarsha Kutumbam used around 15 seconds of the song without obtaining prior permission. He expressed disappointment that a big film had allegedly used content from a smaller production without securing the necessary rights.
The producer said such practices could affect the recognition and promotional benefits that smaller films deserve. He also questioned the use of intellectual property from independent productions without consent.
The Parnashala team is reportedly considering legal action over the alleged copyright violation.
The controversy has put Aadarsha Kutumbam’s makers under pressure to respond. While the film needs positive word of mouth to improve its box-office prospects, the alleged unauthorised use of Jim Jim Tara has created another challenge.
It remains to be seen whether the makers will clarify the matter or resolve the issue with the Parnashala team.
