Can Big Film Repeat Success of Small Films?

Malayalam cinema is on a roll with a string of successes, outshining other industries with four hit films released within a short span: “Premalu,” “Bramayugam,” “Abraham Ozler,” and “Anweshippin Kandethum.” Adding to this streak is the latest blockbuster hit, “Manjummel Boys.”

Manjummel Boyss has emerged as an all-time hit in the Malayalam industry beating last year’s 2018. This year non-star cast films with modest budgets have done better than big star films like Malaikottai Vaaliban.

Now the next big film coming from Malayalam is Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life. It has been in production for years and is expected to showcase Prithviraj’s stellar performance.

Set to hit theaters on March 28, 2024, in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, “Aadujeevitham” has garnered positive responses with its trailer, giving a peek into the protagonist’s challenging journey in the desert.

Prithviraj’s popularity, especially after “Salaar,” may boost “Aadujeevitham,” particularly in Hindi markets, although Malayalam films have traditionally struggled in these regions.

While Prithviraj’s rising fame and the Malayalam industry’s current hot streak are positives for “Aadujeevitham,” the film’s prolonged production period might make it seem outdated, potentially impacting its execution. Additionally, production delays could have increased costs, posing a challenge for the film’s recovery.

It remains to be seen whether “Aadujeevitham,” as a big-budget film, can replicate the success of smaller hits like “Premalu” and “Manjummel Boys.”
