Advantage For Sankranthi Releases in U.S. But…

The Telugu film industry is gearing up for Sankranthi releases next year. Megastar’s Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy are ready to set the screens on fire, and the trade is hopeful that it will turn out to be a blockbuster Sankranthi.

In the U.S., both films will enjoy a long weekend as Monday (January 16th) is a public holiday as it marks Martin Luther King Day. If word of mouth turns out to be positive for both films, then it will be a huge advantage as far as collections are concerned.

However, there’s a glitch; Avatar: The Way Of Water, which is releasing on December 16th, 2022, will still be playing on a substantial number of screens. The trade experts feel that if the reports of Avatar 2 are spectacular, then the collections of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy will surely be affected.

But Avatar 2 will be in its fourth week by the time Megastar and Balakrishna films release, so the chances of Avatar hampering the Sankranthi films are less, though it cannot be ruled out.

Overall, it’s going to be a nail-biting battle between the Sankranthi releases, whether in India or overseas.
