After Two Disappointments, Mrunal Heads North

Mrunal Thakur was last seen in Prabhas’ latest film Kalki 2898 AD as a pregannt woman. Her role as Divya who is assumed to be the mother of Kalki was quite silly and boring and didn’t serve any purpose. It neither did justice to her talent nor beauty.

After mesmerizing the Telugu audience with Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, Mrunal Thakur had to deal with two disappointments, Family Star and Kalki 2898 AD. While Family Star was a complete failure, Kalki is doing great box office-wise, but her role in the film was forgettable.

Mrunal doesn’t have any big Telugu films in her hand right now. There were reports that she is being considered opposite Prabhas in the Hanu Raghavpudi film, but nothing has been confirmed. There are also speculations that a new face might be introduced.

So Mrunal seems to have shifted her base to Mumbai and Bollywood. Recently she signed a comedy film opposite Varun Dhawan which also stars Sreeleela.

Now there are reports that she has been signed as the leading lady in Son of Sardaar 2 opposite Ajay Devgn which also stars Sanjay Dutt. The film is not the sequel to the 2012 film Son of Sardaar.

The reports say that it can be a historical also showcasing the greatness of Sikhs. Punjabi film director Vijay Kumar Arora is directing the film.

Let’s hope Mrunal soon returns to Telugu cinema with a kickass film and role and enthralls her fans like she did in Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna.
