AK47 BO Update: Can Three Days Save Venkatesh’s Film?

Venkatesh-Trivikram’s Aadarsha Kutumbam AK47 has completed its first week with a below-average box-office performance. According to trade estimates, the film has collected around Rs. 65 crores gross worldwide so far, recovering only about 55% of its theatrical business. It needs to reach around Rs. 125 crores gross worldwide to break even.

The film has now entered its second week, but it is struggling to bring audiences to theatres. The makers are hoping the Deepavali holiday weekend will give it some relief. Saturday, Sunday and Monday offer a good chance to improve collections, but the film needs a strong hold on all three days.

Venkatesh‘s absence from post-release promotions has also been a concern. The actor left for Kazakhstan to shoot January 12 Vidudala and is expected to return to Hyderabad on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether he will take part in promotional events or give interviews to bring more attention to the film.

Aadarsha Kutumbam is also turning out to be one of the lowest-grossing films in Trivikram‘s recent career. In North America, it has collected only around $1.2 million so far. It is also facing competition from Ramayana: Part 1, which has emerged as a BIG attraction for audiences.

The film still has a lot of ground to cover to reach its breakeven target. The Deepavali holidays offer an opportunity to improve collections and recover some of the lost ground. However, a few days of good collections may not be enough to change its overall box-office position.
