Akhanda 2 U.S. Bookings: A Bit Too Soon?

Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu have always been a powerhouse combo delivering multiple box office blockbusters together. Now, they are reuniting for Akhanda 2 the much-awaited sequel to their massive hit Akhanda.

This marks the last big-budget Telugu film of 2025, set for a grand theatrical release on December 5. Interestingly, U.S. pre-bookings have already begun through distributor Prathyangira Cinemas.

While early pre-sales have worked wonders for stars like Prabhas, NTR, Allu Arjun and recenly ‘OG’ -building strong pre-release buzz and impressive numbers -the question remains: is this strategy right for a senior star like Balakrishna?

Traditionally, early bookings for senior stars such as Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, or Nagarjuna don’t open this far in advance. Fans usually wait until closer to release week. So, this early move for Akhanda 2 is a first for senior star category.

Perhaps the sequel factor and the hype around the title motivated the team and the U.S. distributor to go all in early. How the pre-sales momentum shapes up in the coming weeks will be interesting to watch.
