Can Lokesh Kanagaraj Save This Star’s Disastrous Career?

Akshay Kumar Meets Lokesh Kanagaraj

Lokesh Kanagaraj recently met Akshay Kumar for a creative discussion. Producer Nazeer Ahmed and writer Magesh Balasubramaniam were also present. The talks are at an early stage, and an official announcement is expected only if things get finalized.

However, it is not yet clear whether Lokesh will direct Akshay Kumar in the film or supervise a project helmed by one of his assistants.

Lokesh is currently busy with the pre-production of his next film with Allu Arjun, tentatively referred to as AA23. Akshay, meanwhile, has already committed to several projects, including the alien drama Samuk and a comedy film with Ekta Kapoor, reportedly directed by Sajid Khan.

So, when this possible collaboration will take shape remains to be seen.

But the bigger question is whether Lokesh can help Akshay get back into the blockbuster race.

Akshay badly needs a huge blockbuster. His contemporaries have raced far ahead of him. Even Ajay Devgn has delivered a huge blockbuster like Drishyam 3, which opened to a massive Rs. 60 crores, while Akshay is struggling with 2 crore openings and single digit lifetime collections with films like Haiwaan.

Lokesh has a strong following thanks to films like Kaithi, Vikram and Leo. His name alone can generate considerable excitement. A collaboration with Akshay could give the actor a fresh opportunity to reconnect with audiences.

But Lokesh’s involvement alone cannot guarantee success. The story, screenplay and Akshay’s role will matter just as much.

There is also the question of who will actually direct the film. If Lokesh only develops the story and supervises the project, the result could be very different from a film directed by him.

Akshay needs a blockbuster, and Lokesh has the brand to create huge expectations. Lokesh has immense craze among audiences, so he could potentially help Akshay turn things around. But will he direct the film himself, or simply design a project for Akshay that will be supervised by him and directed by one of his assistants? That is the big question.
