Pre-COVID Claps, Post-COVID Slaps

Akshay Kumar was considered to be a hit machine during 2017-19. He was delivering successful films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Jolly LLB 2, Kesari, Good Newz, Mission Mangal, and Housefull 4, one after the other. But that was pre-COVID.

The post-Covid scenario has completely changed. Akshay has delivered as many as 5 disasters in a row. Bachchan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, and Cuttputtli (OTT) all were huge box office and critical failures.

No other actor in recent history has such a rare record of delivering 5 big disasters in a single year in a row. And the sad part is that his upcoming films also don’t seem too promising as they are remakes.

His upcoming films include Selfiee which is a remake of the Malayalam film Driving Licence. Another film Startup is a remake of Suriya’s OTT release Soorarai Pottru. Even his fans are wondering who would remake a film that was released on OTT directly.
