Alia Bhatt’s Film Opts For Direct To OTT Release

Alia Bhatt’s film Darlings direct-to-OTT digital platform has been locked. For the past few days, Netflix vs Zee 5 were in the fray as to who would sign the deal. Finally, Netflix has sealed the deal as it has bagged the rights for Darlings digital release. Although the COVID cases have reduced, given the 50 percent occupancy in Maharashtra theaters, the makers have opted for direct digital release.

Darlings is directed by Jasmeet R and has Shah Rukh Khan producing the women-centric film. The film deals with the family drama which also stars other notable actors. The amount is yet to be disclosed but OTT giant has shelled out big money for Darlings rights.

It is worth mentioning that, Darlings brings back Alia and Shah Rukh Khan together again. They had previously worked together in 2016 for Dear Zindagi. Apart from this flick, Alia Bhatt is in the headlines over her film, Gangubai Khatiawadi.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film trailer was recently released and won great appreciation coming Alia Bhatt’s way. The film chronicles the sex worker’s journey and Alia Bhatt essays the titular role.
