Allu Arjun Stumps Mahesh Babu on The Latter’s Strong Turf

In what can be termed as a surprising feat, Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo has overtaken Mahesh Babu’s Sarleru Neekevvaru and took the 10th slot in the All-Time Top USA Premieres Grosses. Sarileru Neekevvaru has collected around $764K from its USA Premieres and now Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo bagged 792K (Few more may add).

This is a surprise because Mahesh Babu is considered as the King of Overseas. Just before this movie, Bunny’s Best US Premiere Gross is $384K (Naa Peru Surya) which means he almost bettered it by a double margin. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo also got better ratings than Sarileru Neekevvaru and it has to be seen if the movie can better Sarileru Neekevvaru in the full run as well.

The US Distributor of the movie came up with an interesting strategy. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Premiere tickets were priced at a modest $14 which increased the footfall. Most star films are priced over $20 in the USA. Trivikram’s Brand and the popularity of the songs also helped.

It has to be seen which of these movies will emerge as the Sankranthi Winner both in the Overseas and Domestic Markets.
