Amaravati event – a success or failure?

The much awaited Foundation event of Amaravati happened amid huge fan fare. The State festival added more glamour to the Vijaya Dasami festival as the people in the state owned it as a celebration in their home. People thronged in large numbers to the venue way beyond the expectations of the government while remaining remained glue to their television sets to watch the historic event.

However the disappointment caused by Modi’s silence over Special Status and Special Package spoiled the mood of the people at the end. Opposition parties ignored the success of the event which is intended to attract international attention (and it did) and started showcasing the disappointment at the end as the failure of the state government.

People did expect Modi to make an announcement and was disappointed but it has got nothing to do with the event. The fete was not intended to please Modi or get something from him. It was organized with the sole motive of making Amaravati, an international eye candy. National and International media focused on Amaravati for a single day and with that the event is already a big success.
