Things seem to have changed in the two weeks that followed the buzz. As we updated recently, Suresh Babu has shown his inclination to have a theatrical release. It came in the wake of pressure from the Telangana exhibition sector.
Now, it looks almost confirmed that Narappa won’t have a direct OTT release. And it comes from none other than Amazon Prime Video, albeit indirectly.
Amazon Prime Video is coming up with a blockbuster lineup of films in a run-up to the annual Prime Day celebration. They have lined up biggies across all the top industries in India. It starts with Malik (Malayalam, July 15), and is followed by Toofan (Hindi, July 16), Ikkat (Kannada, July 21) and Sarapatta Parambarai (Tamil, July 22).
The notable omission is a movie from Telugu Film Industry. The Venkatesh starrer Narappa was initially set to stream on July 24th. An official announcement regarding the same was expected anytime in the first week of July. But, it hasn’t happened until now.
However, the thing to be noted here is that both the production and OTT platforms have given indirect confirmation, but no official announcement regarding either (release or lack of). So, one has to take things with a pinch of salt at this particular moment.
