Anil Ravipudi Faces Jailer 2 Comparisons
There is no debating the fact that Anil Ravipudi is possibly the one of the most targeted and vehemently ridiculed (on social media) film makers of this generation in Telugu cinema.
There is unnecessary targeting of Anil that happens culturally whenever a comedy oriented film from South India scores big at the Cricket counters.
This has again happened in the case of Jailer 2. After the success of this film, there is a new narrative that is being built against Anil as a few are commenting that this is the kind of fresh and new zone comedic approach that Anil must also try out.
The opinion that is being expressed by a section of social media users is that Nelson is delivering a new grade of comedy with a dark shade and fresher approach. They are demanding Anil to also follow similar suit.
But at the end of the day, the kind of success that Anil had been generating by his own is simply extraordinary as well. The way in which he executes his projects in under six months with very limited budgets and generates profits to his producers is extraordinary.
At the end of the day, he is also able to bring around ₹300 crore revenues for most of his films consistently. This is also an extremely tough proposition in the current market, and Anil needs to get the credit wherever it’s due.
Not many other directors have been able to maintain the kind of consistency and track record that Anil had been generating, and this needs a bit of respect as well.
There might be people critiquing his style of filmmaking but that’s not the entire section of the Telugu folk either. This proportion of Telugu social media folk does not constitute the entire film watching community and that’s reflecting in the big revenues that Anil’s films have been carving at the box office which matters the most.
