Animal OTT Release: All Legal Hurdles Cleared

Cine1 Private Ltd and T-Series have settled their contract dispute over the film “Animal” outside of court, according to a notice received by the Delhi High Court. The settlement allows the movie’s release on OTT platforms.

The dispute arose from Cine1’s allegations of contract violations, claiming a 35% profit share and intellectual property rights in the film. The suit accused T-Series of promoting and releasing the film without approval, withholding financial details, and failing to honor the agreed profit share.

T-Series argued that Cine1 relinquished rights for Rs 2.6 crore, citing an amendment. Despite a scheduled hearing on January 22, both parties settled the matter. On January 24 the court will consider it for disposal.

The settlement paves the way for the release of “Animal” on Netflix. However, uncertainty surrounds the adherence to the initial release date of January 26, with more clarity expected in the coming days.
