AP-TS Polls: Sankranthi Films Are Safe

The election season is around the corner in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The election schedule has already been announced in Telangana while AP will go to polls in April, as announced by Jagan today.

This creates a safe passage for the Tollywood films which are headed for release this Sankranthi season.

Guntur Karam, Saindhav, and Hanuman are three of the around half a dozen films which are releasing this Sankranthi season. And luckily for them, they will be unhinged by the election campaign in the Telugu states.

Incidentally, Telangana election results will be out on 3 December and the dust will settle down by the end of the month. This will not affect the Sankranthi releases which will be out in the second week of January.

And then, there are the AP elections which are scheduled to be held this April. Needless to say, the Sankranthi releases will be done with their theatrical run by then.

Had there been unexpected change in schedules in Telugu states elections and had any of them been pushed to January, things could’ve gotten tense for Sankranthi films as the political tensions and related situations will overcast them. But luckily, there is no such predicament here.
