Rejecting Best OTT Deal Turns Disastrous

Tamil hero Arya’s sci-fi drama, Captain, under the direction of Shakti Soundar Rajan, hit the screens on Thursday. Opened to poor word of mouth, the theaters in which Captain is being screened are seen empty in Tamil Nadu and in twin Telugu states.

There are reports that Captain got a fancy offer from a leading OTT platform for direct-to-OTT release. Reportedly, the streaming channel had come forward to pay double the amount fetched by Arya’s previous OTT release, Teddy, but Arya insisted the makers for a theatrical release of the film.

Now, the current scenario says that Captain is going to end as a washout. The reviews and ratings are totally disappointing for the film.

It is going to be replaced with Brahmastra on most of the screens from Friday. Looks like Arya’s strategy has gone horribly wrong, and hope he won’t repeat the same mistake when his not-so-exciting films get an OTT offer in the future.
