Atlee's Raaka Oscar Dream Sparks Debate
Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and produced by Atlee, was released in theatres on 1st October and has received positive responses from audiences and critics alike.
Even though Baththa started its theatrical run with a below-average opening, the super positive word of mouth has helped it perform well at the box office.
In this scenario, the makers of Baththa recently conducted a success meet for the film. During the event, producer Atlee interacted with the press, claimed that he would take Raaka to the Oscars and appreciated Sai Abhyankkar by sharing exclusive news about Raaka. These statements by Atlee have now gone viral on social media.
Atlee stated that he has been doing his best to achieve the dream of getting an Oscar with Raaka and mentioned that the film is going to make Tamil people across the globe very proud.
Furthermore, he stated that he has immense trust in his team and himself. He also suggested that if he is unable to reach the Oscar goal with Raaka, he will do it with his next film.
At the same time, he praised music composer Sai Abhyankkar for his work in Baththa and called him a God’s Child. He also shared an exclusive update from Raaka, stating that they went for the music composition of the film to London, where legendary music directors like Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Goransson compose.
Reportedly, the studio initially did not recognise him and Sai and asked them to wait outside. Then Sai handed over his musical notebook for the session.
After the composition, the room erupted in applause and everyone hugged Sai Abhyankkar for the score. By sharing this incident, Atlee claimed that Sai Abhyankkar is not just another composer who arrived with tracks like Katchi Sera and Aasa Kooda, but someone who is going to make Tamil people proud.
In response to these comments, many people feel that Atlee is cooking something big with Raaka and believe that Atlee will definitely achieve an Oscar and make Indian cinema proud.
Meanwhile, some feel that even though Atlee is confident about Raaka and Sai Abhyankkar’s work in the film, he should not have made such overconfident statements before its release. They suggest that if Raaka fails to meet expectations and ends up as a failure, these remarks will backfire on Atlee, allowing netizens to troll him.
However, it remains to be seen whether Raaka will satisfy audience expectations and emerge as a successful venture, helping Atlee to achieve his Oscar dream upon its release.
