Sivakarthikeyan’s much-anticipated movie, Ayalaan, has been in the works for a while now, with several release date changes. The film is finally set to hit the screens on January 12th, 2024.
At the audio launch event, music director AR Rahman praised Ayalaan, comparing it to Steven Spielberg’s famous 1982 film, ET. Rahman also acknowledged the director, R Ravikumar, for putting his entire career on the line for the movie.
Producer Kotapadi J Rajesh confidently stated that Ayalaan could be the “Baahubali of Tamil cinema,” drawing a comparison to the significant impact Baahubali had on Telugu cinema.
This claim reflects the ongoing trend in Tamil cinema, where filmmakers aim to replicate the success of Baahubali.
Every now and then we keep hearing from Tamil makers that their next movie is going to be the Baahubali of Tamil cinema. Shankar tried it with 2.0, Mani Ratnam with the Ponniyin Selvan series, but none came close to Baahubali’s legacy.
As expectations rise, only time will tell if Ayalaan can achieve a status similar to Baahubali’s legacy in Tamil cinema.
