Baahubali smashes landmarks –domestically, nationally

Just as many in the trade had expected Baahubali has crossed the historic milestones in the weekend gone by. Yes, the film has crossed 100 Cr Share and Nett in Telugu and Hindi respectively over the weekend.

Baahubali despite having to deal with massive competition like Bajarangi Bhaijaan and relatively lesser competition in the form of Drishyam still managed to collect good amounts over the weekend making the film cross the historic landmark of 100 Cr. This is the first time a dubbed film has ever done this kind of business. To give an idea of the massiveness, the previous best dubbed performance has been around 22 Cr.

Coming to the Telugu version, Baahubali has crossed 100 Cr share in the two Telugu states making it the first film to achieve this. Again to put things into perspective, 100 Cr share for Telugu films in Telugu states looked impossible and in fact not reached before Baahubali, even when two films of same star were combined in a single year.

The Worldwide figures at the end of fourth weekend stands close to 170 Cr for Telugu version. If taken all the versions (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi) into account the Indian “share” of the film is highest ever overtaking that of PK. This is a phenomenal achievement for a Telugu film, something which is truly deserving to be called “never before never after”.
