It is being said that Beast will arrive on its OTT streaming partner, Netflix on the 11th of May, which is four weeks from the theatrical debut. If that really is the case, Netflix is repeating its same old mistake again – not orchestrating early OTT releases.
Beast is not expected to cling on at the box office after the first weekend and this gives Netflix the perfect opportunity to orchestrate 3-weeks OTT release for the film. This will only help Netflix make the most of whatever Beast hype that is left.
For instance, Amazon Prime Video premiered Vijay’s previous film, Master on the platform just 3 weeks post its theatrical release, and that too at a time when the film was holding well at the box office. Now, the onus is on Netflix to orchestrate earliest possible OTT release for Beast rather than waiting for the standard 4 week clause if they are to make anything out of Beast.
