Beast’s Dumb Idea To Clash With KGF 2

The makers of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay‘s Beast have announced that the film will release on 13th March, just one day ahead of pan-India biggie, KGF 2. While Beast is obviously the bigger fish in the Tamil market, that is not the case in other markets.

Coming to the Telugu market, Beast might be no match to KGF 2. KGF 2 was a blockbuster in the Telugu states and that has naturally built anticipation on the second installment. KGF 2’s Telugu theatrical rights were sold for a substantially high price.

As for beast, senior producers Dil Raju, Asian Suniel, and Suresh Babu are said to have bagged the Telugu rights. They intend to give the film a wide release in the Telugu states. Even if that happens, the film might have to lose the vast majority of the theatres to KGF 2.

Comparatively, KGF 2 has a much biggest market reach and pull than Beast in the Telugu states. Another factor is that if RRR garners a unanimously positive response, the film will hold the majority of the theatres in AP and Telangana.

Given the success of KGF, the second part, KGF 2 will also fetch a good pull in the Telugu states, and considering the fact that the rights were sold for a price multifold higher than Beast, the former will get a wider release. So, even if Beast gets off to a good start, it might be crushed by RRR and KGF 2 right from its second day at the Telugu box office. It appears to be that Beast’s release plan in the Telugu states is a dumb one.
