The trend of sequels working big time has caught on very well in Tollywood and the forthcoming outing in this regard is Tillu 2, the sequel to super hit DJ Tillu. The sequel is announced for release on the 29th of this month and thing are looking very interesting in terms of box office prospects.
March 29 is Good Friday holiday and it is followed by the weekend advantage on Saturday. Sunday again is Easer holiday. With this holiday weekend advantage, things can get really prospective for the comedy caper.
Tillu 2 has the DJ Tillu character hype and if the makers amp up the promotional campaign and set the stage for the theatrical release, then this Siddhu Jonnalgadda starrer has the right potency.
Tollywood is anyway in sort of a vacuum with not many box office hits post the Sankranthi season. Tillu 2 is coming at a time when the Tollywood audience are waiting for a winning film. If this box can be ticked, Tillu 2 is in for a good run, but of course the contest is going to be the key here.
More importantly, Tollywood hasn’t seen a comedy entertainer in a while and this will also work in favor of this comedy caper, along with the mentioned holiday weekend advantage.
