Big Directors Fighting for Sequel Titles!

One of India’s top directors Shankar is coming up with ‘2.0’ starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. Though it’s the sequel for 2010 thriller ‘Enthiran’, the makers couldn’t title the sequel as ‘Enthiran 2’. It’s because the original producers of the prequel, Sun Pictures didn’t produce the sequel. ‘2.0’ was produced by Lyca Productions.

When approached for the title rights, Sun Pictures reportedly quoted sky-high price and hence, Shankar had to opt for a new title for the sequel. Sun Pictures denied the title rights for ‘Singham 2’ and also quoted big amount for ‘Singham 3’ and hence, the title change for Suriya’s ‘Singham’ franchise, as well.

Now, Shankar is making another sequel, ‘Indian 2’. The prequel for this Kamal Haasan’s blockbuster was produced by Maniratnam and hence, the makers need to approach him if they want to use the same title. Fighting it out for the titles have become a common thing in Kollywood as the craze for sequels is dominant in the industry. Besides the above-said movies, there were many movies for which the makers had to fight for the titles when making a sequel.
