Whistle Gives Vijay Career-best In Telugu States

The opening day numbers of Vijay starrer Whistle are out. The star is going to get his career-best opening in Telugu cinemas with the sports entertainer.

Whistle has collected around 2.5 Cr on day 1. It is a new opening day record for Vijay in Telugu states. However, it has only passed the previous best Sarkar by a whisker. It also includes hires which make the margin even lesser in real terms.

Still, considering the weak advance bookings, Whistle has done well on an opening day. After the positive reports started kicking in from the morning, the occupancies shot up across the A centers and multiplexes.

Thanks to the opening day, there is now a decent chance for the movie to breakeven in Telugu states. Whistle needs to do 10 Cr plus in the final run. If the film sustains from Monday, it could be achieved easily.

Whistle stars Vijay and Nayanthara in the lead. Atlee has directed the movie which is based on the Football backdrop. The message about women empowerment and the older character essayed by the star in the film have clicked with the audience.
