Bollywood Facing RRR Like Threat With KGF 2?

Bollywood has blown hot and cold following the third wave. If we take at the recent developments, Kashmir Files outperformed Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Panday and RRR has absolutely crushed Attack. The interesting thing is that both Bachchan Panday and Attack had decent enough content, but they were swept away by Kashmir Files and RRR respectively.

Next weekend, KGF 2 and Jersey will be locking horns at the Bollywood box office. Both these films will release on 14 April.

For starters, KGF was a big hit in the Hindi market. The stakes are high on KGF 2 and the film is expected to get off to a bright start in the Hindi market. With an aggressive promotional campaign, KGF 2 can further up the ante. Despite being a dubbed film, KGF 2 is expected to get off to a better start than Jersey even in the Hindi belt as it caters to the masses.

Very recently, straight Hindi film, Attack was crushed by South Indian biggie RRR. This time around, Bollywood’s Jersey is facing a similar threat from KGF 2.

That said, Jersey is a remake of a hit Telugu film with the same title. Moreover, Jersey star, Shahid Kapoor’s previous film, Kabir Singh, which was a remake of Arjun Reddy ended up as a sensational box office blockbuster. So, while KGF 2 stands with the clear advantage in terms of openings, it needs to garner good word of mouth if it is to race past Jersey.
