BO: HanuMan Taking On 2nd Superstar

HanuMan put on a surprisingly good performance at the box office, despite the neck-to-neck competition with superstar Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram. It held its own in the domestic Telugu market and went on to dominate Guntur Kaaram($2.6M) in the USA with $4.4M gross.

After taking on one superstar – Mahesh Babu successfully, HanuMan is taking on another superstar, this time in the Hindi belt with Hrithik Roshan.

Hrithik’s Fighter released on the 25th of this month and despite the sedate start, it picked up very well on the second day and is taking charge at the box office.

But despite the presence of Fighter, HanuMan still managed to hold its ground at the Hindi box office on the Republic Day holiday. The film added another Rs 1,75 crore nett to its tally on Republic Day. The number might look small but in terms of box office hold, with the presence of mainstream Bollywood superstar film, HanuMan has done well.

With the encouraging nett addition the other day, HanuMan has touched Rs 40 crore nett mark and despite Fighter, it will touch the Rs 50 crore mark by the time it closes the Hindi run.

HanuMan didn’t have a breakout period in Hindi for it to touch the 3-digit mark, but for a Telugu superhero film with a touch of mythology, this run is a satisfactory one.
