This decision has been taken in connection with the early OTT release of 2018, a box office blockbuster which is now headed for its OTT premieres.

2018 is a mega blockbuster in Kerala and it is still continuing to rake up good revenues there. However, the box office run is now bound to get cut short with the film headed for its OTT premieres on Sony Liv tonight – 7 June.

The theaters association is protesting against the early OTT culture while theatrical releases are already struggling with the audience looking at OTT as primary option.

In protest to the OTT release, the theaters across Kerala will remain shut for the next two days.

Tollywood also vowed to take steps against early OTT release of theatrical films but that isn’t coming to effect now as many theatrical releases are now going for early OTT release.
