Small Movies Surprising Critically, But Not commercially

In the past few weeks, several small films have hit the theatres. It is an excellent time for Telugu cinema lovers, as most are coming up with unique concepts and delivering a reasonably engaging watch as well, which wasn’t the case previously. The times are changing for sure, but the collections have a different tale to tell.

The films in question are Game Over, Mallesham, Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya and Brochevarevaru Ra. All these have had good critical reception by and large. Their unique storylines and themes have been praised. They are, without any doubt, a one-time watch. However, the collections of these movies are not that impressive.

Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya has fared the best of the lot, but even that did not see the same continuity in the weekdays it had in the weekend. The same trend looks like to be followed by Brochevarevaru Ra too. It is still early days so we would focus on that later, but Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya has underperformed in the weekdays. In the US, it has fared reasonably well, though.

It has been the case for the entire summer in TFI. Let’s see if there will be a change from next week onwards when medium budget flicks take over from small ones.
