With the massive success of franchise films like Baahubali: The Beginning, Pushpa: The Rise, and Dhurandhar, audiences have become increasingly familiar with big-budget pan-India films being split into multiple parts. But after that trend took off, many films also began forcing the two-part formula unnecessarily. Movies like Salaar, Devara, Kingdom, Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and several others ended up leaving their narratives incomplete, frustrating audiences even after three-hour runtimes.
Because of that growing fatigue, speculation recently started around Ram Charan’s Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Many fans wondered whether the film too would eventually turn into a two-part franchise.
Now, Buchi Babu Sana has officially shut down those rumors.
During a recent promotional interview, the director gave a very clear response when asked about the possibility of Peddi Part 2. According to him, Peddi was conceived as a complete story designed to be told in a single film. He also made it clear that he personally dislikes stretching one story across multiple parts without necessity.
Explaining his approach, Buchi Babu said:
“Peddi’s story comes only once, and it comes only as a single volume. I personally do not like dragging one story into two parts. When I start a story, I prefer completing it fully in one film and then moving on to a completely new story afterward. Peddi’s story simply does not suit a Part 2 under any circumstances.”
With that statement, the director has effectively confirmed that Peddi will not have sequels, spin-offs, or continuation chapters. According to him, the entire emotional journey and narrative arc will conclude within a single film itself.
Buchi Babu also expressed confidence that the movie will deliver a “full meals” theatrical experience packed with emotions, drama, and impactful storytelling in one outing. Instead of saving emotional payoffs for future installments, the team reportedly wants audiences to walk out feeling fully satisfied after the first film itself.
That clarity has actually come as a refreshing change for many viewers.
In recent years, audiences have complained about filmmakers unnecessarily splitting stories into multiple parts simply to expand franchises. In many cases, audiences have felt frustrated by incomplete climaxes that leave real emotional payoffs for future installments, which sometimes never get made due to the poor response to the first part.
Against that backdrop, Buchi Babu’s decision to keep Peddi as a single-film story has generated even more curiosity around how he plans to handle the emotional sports drama within a tightly packed narrative.
