Can’t Afford Me to ‘Can Afford Me’: Mahesh’s Two Sides

Mahesh Babu, who is mostly known for his non-controversial nature, made a statement that offended many Bollywood fans, who felt Mahesh was arrogant.

In 2022, when asked about his Bollywood plans, Mahesh said, “Bollywood can’t afford me, don’t want to waste my time.” This statement certainly hurt fans in the north, and rightly so.

Cut to now, everything has changed. Mahesh has struggled to come up with half-decent projects in Telugu, working with directors like Parasuram and established directors like Trivikram. But now, he is all set to join the pan-India bandwagon of South Indian heroes with Rajamouli’s action-adventure.

Yesterday, Mahesh Babu attended the wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. His off-screen look received positive responses in Telugu media and among fans, but Bollywood has not forgotten his comment about not being affordable.

They are creating ‘Before’ and ‘After’ memes with quotes like ‘From being unaffordable to affordable, his journey is inspiring.’

And we know this won’t stop here. Mahesh will have to answer this question from Bollywood media when he sits down to promote his film in Mumbai, whenever that happens in the future.

Some statements, even if meant casually, can turn out to be embarrassing, and this is one such occasion for the otherwise non-controversial star Mahesh.
