Censorship rules not the same for all industries

Indian cinema is not only about Bollywood but several other industries which constitute maximum number of films produced in the country. Although we have common censorship board but our industries are not treated on par when it comes to censorship.

It is believed that Bollywood, which is controlled by Khans & Kapoors and manged by huge studios, gets the maximum leeway out of the censor board of film certification in India. Bollywood filmmakers get away with anything from censorship but the same is not applicable to films down south.

For instance, censors wont green-light a film like Grand Masti in Telugu or Tamil, but they released the Hindi version with a A certificate. Telugu director Sri Praveen, who is awaiting the release of Kaalicharan says that censors won’t mind extreme violence in Hindi films such as Gangs of Wasseypur and Shootout at Wadala, but they stall his film from releasing. His film Kaalicharan was lying in court for six months because he had reportedly made the film on an EX MLA, and that didn’t go down well with several people.

He says he still can’t understand why there is difference in censorship in Bollywood and other industries. He laments that there should be uniformity in censorship across all industries.
