Teaser Talk: Over The Top Spy Thriller

Actor Gopichand is back with a new movie after more than a year. His last release was Pantham that came in July last year. This time Gopichand is bringing a spy thriller titled Chanakya.

Ever since it was announced that Gopichand would be seen in a spy thriller next, there has been curiosity on the project. The change in looks also helped. However, the first teaser gives us a run-of-the-mill kind of feeling. Why spy movies are slowly getting made in Telugu, Chanakya from the glimpse itself feels like clichéd work.

Thiru has made very few films so far in a career that is spanned for almost a decade. He has been mixing slightly ambitious stuff with routine commercial entertainers one after other. However, in either case, the formulaic narrative is common. Chanakya seems to belong to the former variety. The dual identity, discrediting plot points reveal the clichés.

Everything is now about how engagingly Thiru uses the formula. Gopichand always looks kick-ass in action movies. Sadly, he has not been able to land a similar level of film as a whole to exploit his talents. A spy thriller if done right with all the mass moments in place could do the trick for him.
