Chiranjeevi and Balayya cases remain unsolved!

Few weeks ago the Supreme Court had struck down section 66A of the Information Technology Act and that movie forced police in to dilemma over cases pending. Besides several cases, there are also two cases pertaining to Film stars and Politicians, Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna booked under the same section.

Cases under this section were booked when Ram Gopal Varma made alleged objectionable comments against Lord Ganesha on Twitter, when Chiranjeevi lodged a complaint against a website containing defamatory content against him and about defamatory content posted on TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna.

All these cases are pending in the courts for several years and the Police are totally confused regarding how to pursue them further. The police are taking legal opinions on replace that section with relevant sections of IPC like 507 (intimidation by anonymous communication), 354D (stalking) and 509 (outraging modesty).
