Megastar Chiranjeevi recently met acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Tharun Moorthy at his Hyderabad residence, sparking immediate curiosity among fans and industry circles. The meeting quickly led to speculation that Chiranjeevi might be planning a remake of Tharun Moorthy’s successful Malayalam film Thudarum.
However, the director soon clarified through Instagram that the meeting was not related to any remake discussions. Tharun revealed that Chiranjeevi himself invited him for the interaction, following which he immediately traveled to Hyderabad.
According to the director, the meeting turned out to be a deeply memorable experience. He shared that Chiranjeevi discussed cinema and personal life at length and even spoke in detail about sequences from all his films. Tharun said he was genuinely overwhelmed by the superstar’s knowledge and passion for movies.
He also praised Chiranjeevi for continuing to watch films with the same enthusiasm as a newcomer despite being one of Indian cinema’s legends. Calling it one of the biggest moments of his life, Tharun described the interaction as a “lifetime’s biggest excitement.”
Even though remake rumors were dismissed, the meeting has naturally triggered fresh speculation about a possible collaboration. Many fans feel Tharun Moorthy’s grounded storytelling style could offer Chiranjeevi something refreshing at this stage of his career.
Interestingly, several fans and industry observers believe a film in the space of Thudarum would actually suit Chiranjeevi very well now. Such stories are seen as age-appropriate while still carrying enough emotional and mass appeal to satisfy his fan base.
At present, Chiranjeevi is expected to soon begin shooting for director K. S. Ravindra (Bobby)’s film. After that, he is committed to a project with Srikanth Odela, which is said to be an intense and violent drama. However, that project may take time since Srikanth is currently busy with Nani’s Paradise, a film reportedly facing delays due to shoot schedules.
Because of this gap, many feel this could actually be the perfect window for Chiranjeevi to collaborate with a sensible and relevant filmmaker like Tharun Moorthy. While nothing official has been announced yet, the possibility itself has already created considerable excitement among movie lovers.
