Hero Sree Vishnu is coming up with a comedy entertainer Comrade Kalyan, directed by Janakiram Marella and presented by Kona Venkat. Venkata Krishna Karnati and Seetha Karnati are producing the project under Skanda Vahana Motion Pictures LLP. It is set to hit theatres on October 9th. Today, the film’s teaser has been dropped.
The film takes audiences back to 1992 and the Andhra-Odisha border. At the centre of the story is Sree Vishnu’s character, a theatre owner who has a special admiration for R Narayana Murthy. Life takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with an Odia girl. What initially appears to be a simple romantic track gradually develops into something more consequential. A series of circumstances ultimately changes his direction and takes him towards the Naxalite movement.
Sree Vishnu handles the comic portions well. His characterization gives him scope to showcase his timing, expressions and dialogue delivery. The Satya and Sudarshan duo provides comic moments and is expected to contribute to the film’s humour. Mahima Nambiar
What stands out in the presentation is the decision to surround this premise with comedy. For most of the teaser, the mood remains light and entertaining, with only select portions shifting into an intense space. This contrast could be an important aspect of the film.
Mahima Nambiar brings freshness to the romantic side of the story, while Radhika Sarathkumar appears in a role with considerable weight. Shine Tom Chacko, in contrast, is presented in a more intense avatar.
Sai Sriram’s cinematography captures the rustic atmosphere effectively. Vijay Bulganin’s music adapts to the film’s contrasting moods, moving from playful and lively moments to tense sequences.
The film’s key aspect is the mix of comedy, love and Naxalism.
