Coolie Crushes War 2 in US gross and Telugu Share

The much-awaited clash between Hrithik Roshan – NTR’s War 2 and Rajinikanth’s Coolie has its first results and in North America Coolie has outright crushed War 2 in total gross. Even the Telugu version numbers are much lower than for War2.

The official premiere plus day-one numbers are out:

• Coolie: $3.94 million total
• War 2: $1.41 million total

The biggest heat for War 2 is the Telugu version’s contribution. Coolie’s Telugu version brought in $1.3 million, nearly double War 2’s $603K. Given War 2’s star cast and franchise brand, this is a shockingly low figure. Coolie’s Telugu version also marks the highest premiere of the year, adding another record under their belt.

From here, it’s all about how both films hold in the coming days. The initial winner is clearly Coolie by a huge margin, but the trend from today will decide how the final picture looks.
