Coolie: KGF 2 & Leo Ticket Records Gone in 30 Mins?

Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on 14 August. With just days left for the big day, advance bookings are moving at an impressive speed, reflecting the massive anticipation among fans.

Reports suggest that ticket sales for Coolie began in the Karnataka region at 8 am today. In Bengaluru City alone, over 10,000 tickets were sold within the first 30 minutes of bookings going live, a feat that has grabbed industry attention.

This makes Coolie the fastest film to reach the 10,000-ticket milestone in Bengaluru, overtaking the records set by KGF: Chapter 2 and Leo. The momentum is not limited to regional numbers either.

On the BookMyShow platform yesterday, over 376,000 tickets were booked, setting the highest-ever single-day ticket sales for a Kollywood film. The record is second only to Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan in the history of Indian cinema.

Trade experts believe that if this trend continues, Coolie could become the highest-grossing Kollywood film, surpassing Leo, especially since these milestones have been achieved with bookings open only in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Ticket sales in the Telugu states and other parts of India are yet to begin and are expected to add significantly to the numbers.

As the release date draws closer, all eyes are on how far Coolie will push the limits of pre-booking records and whether it will emerge as a massive blockbuster when it hits screens on 14 August.
