Court orders ‘Contempt Case’ on Stephenson

The Not Before Petition filed by nominated MLA, Stephenson had misfired badly. Stephenson in the petition alleged that the judge Siva Shankar Rao may be being partial towards the accused in the case. He indirectly pointed out that the judge belong to Andhra Pradesh and he is being impartial in this case and so need to change Matthaiah’s case to another bench.

The court felt that Stephenson intentionally tried to malign the character of the judge and the court. The judge struck down Stephenson’s petition and ordered to file a ‘Contempt of Court’ case on Stephenson. The court also felt that Stephenson tried to malign the court.

This will be embarrassment for Stephenson. In case he is not satisfied with the ruling, the nominated MLA will have to knock the door of the Supreme Court. On the other side, the stay on Matthaiah’s arrest will continue until the his quash petition is decided.
